Hi Reader! Last week, I talked about setting priorities and being specific about what’s most important to you. Today, let’s talk about enjoying the process as we optimize for great outcomes. You see, Reader, it gets really hard to stick to something when you're yet to see results, especially when it’s time and energy consuming. When your expected outcome doesn’t seem to be coming as fast as you’d like, you wonder when or if they’ll ever come. These moments are where people begin to pivot. They change routines, switch strategies, learn new skills, seek to infiltrate new spaces, or just... give up. But, I want us to consider who we’re becoming. Reader, the truth is we’re not in total control of when we get the kind of results we want to see but it’s in our best interest to prepare for them. However, I’d like to consider these questions:
Work is essentially taking responsibility and serving others. That's what brings fulfillment, not necessarily the results. It's who you become in the process. Because it’s only a matter of time before your growth becomes significant and tangible. But if you don't like who you become, was it worth it? Whether your goal is getting closer to God, growing your income, improving a skill, or dominating your space, it could seem like your efforts are barely yielding anything (not true). Stay there. Keep working. Keep praying. Keep becoming. It’s yielding something in you already and soon enough the signs of your growth will be obvious to you and others. Love the process, enjoy the journey. Cheers to the person you’re becoming.🥂 Alright, that'll be all for now, until next Friday. Light & Increase, Osose Christabel. As the week winds down, Friday Cogitations invites you to reflect on the past, embrace the present, and shape your future through the lens of faith, hope, and your unique journey.
Hi Reader! People are always quick to point out how important discipline is and how motivation is overrated. I argue that motivation is the first step to becoming more disciplined. You need a clear picture in your mind of what you desire, so much that you're willing to endure the disciplines it'll take to materialize that image. Humans don't just embrace discipline. We're motivated by so many things, and I believe it's important to examine our motivations to understand what's really driving...
Hi Reader! One thought that has consumed my mind as I'm figuring out life and adulthood is the kind of person I want to be. How do I want people to remember their encounter with me? A few things come to mind, and I’ll highlight one today. Growing up, I've always been among the “smart and outgoing” kids. You know those kids who get decent grades, speak or perform confidently in public, write and memorize well. But in university, especially after graduating, I quickly realized that whatever I...
Hi Reader! We have all that we need to be 1% better today, and repeat tomorrow. We just dislike the idea of starting small, asking for help, looking scrappy and enduring the hard things. We want the posh appearance, the expensive gear, the mainstream mentors, the huge capital.. So when someone asks you why you haven't started yet. You have a lot to say. “I don't have money. I don't have a good camera. I can't afford the course. I'm not this, I'm not that..” We love pointing to all that we...
