Hi Reader! I tend to avoid making someone uncomfortable (by initiating a difficult conversation), even when something they did made me uncomfortable, especially when it’s a subtle or sensitive situation. I’m consciously working on that (I still struggle sometimes😭). I try to resolve it internally, but it doesn’t always work. And when it doesn’t, two things happen - either a growing resentment because of unaddressed issues or an uncontrolled moment of outburst due to overwhelming unresolved emotions. Or both. Sometimes, people don't know how to treat you, how their words and actions affect you, what you like, or what you don't like, unless you tell them. And sometimes, you can misunderstand people’s intentions. Honestly, I have a few conversations I need to have. But I was impressed with my progress in a work-related incident last week.😅 Life is full of compromises, yes, but you want to make sure you're not swallowing everything that comes your way just to maintain the peace or be respectful. Is it uncomfortable? Oh yes! But, is it worth it in the long term? Absolutely. What does speaking up look like? I could give examples of specific words or sentences, but I want to focus on intent. Your goal isn’t to escalate conflict, instigate a harsh exchange, or use demeaning language and names. You're basically drawing attention to an issue, explaining your position, and correcting a misunderstanding. You want the other person to see what you think, how you feel, what you stand for, and what you stand against. As with everything else, the more you practice, the better you get at it. That’s literally what I tell myself when. “How are you going to get better if you don’t practice?” Alright, that'll be all for now, until next Friday. Light & Increase, Osose Christabel. Hi Reader! “Money isn’t everything!” When some people see or hear a comment like this, they have an argument ready. “But money buys you freedom, earns you respect, gives you this, gives you that,” and I'm like, hold on. I said it isn't everything. I didn't say it's nothing or that it’s not important. I want things/experiences that money can get too. I just don't believe it should be the sole, principal motivation of an adult human. A while ago, there were some comments or debates about "Olodo...
Hi Reader! Better late than never so here goes this week's piece that should've arrive yesterday.🙈 I remember receiving several teachings on "Time Management" in church conferences over the years. It makes more sense now why it was such a recurring topic. Time (at least on earth) is a limited currency and nothing makes this more obvious than navigating adulthood. If there's one thing becoming an adult does, it shows you how precious your 'limited' time is because it never seems to be enough...
Hi Reader! Have you ever felt guilty about something you did or didn’t do? I know I have. It's normal to feel guilty when you violate your own standards or convictions. But when it lingers for weeks, days, and months, I liken it to the emotional equivalent of being stuck in a confined space without fresh air. You feel down, ashamed, embarrassed. You wonder what people might think of you if only they knew. And for those who found you out, you wonder if they secretly judge you. (Well, they...
