Times and Seasons

Hi Reader!

It's been raining almost every day this week. I love the cool weather, but not the commuting on wet, flooded roads and damp clothes that take eons to dry.

How's the weather at your end?

Anyhoo, today, inspired by the rain, I just wanted to talk about times and seasons.

At various geographical locations, people can predict when the weather or season will change. Maybe not the exact time or hour, but based on our observation over the years, we can predict and prepare for seasonal changes.

Farmers in south-south Nigeria, for example, start planting early in the rainy season around March to May. And depending on the crop, harvest begins around July, August (pepper, okra, maize, beans) to November, December (yams, rice) and beyond (plantain, banana, late yams).

Humans also operate with times and seasons. There's an average, predictable time frame for puberty, college, marriage, financial stability, etc. However, everyone's journey and experience inevitably looks different. So it's not exactly wise to use one person as a stringent yardstick. Because your time and season may differ from theirs.

So just like locations vary in their seasonal changes and timing, even though some seasons may overlap, we all have unique times and seasons.

Don't be too hard on yourself when your life looks different from those who are supposed to be your "mates". You are on a unique journey. Just stay focused and intentional. Dassal!

Alright, that'll be all for now, until next Friday.

Light & Increase,

Osose Christabel.

Hi Reader! “Money isn’t everything!” When some people see or hear a comment like this, they have an argument ready. “But money buys you freedom, earns you respect, gives you this, gives you that,” and I'm like, hold on. I said it isn't everything. I didn't say it's nothing or that it’s not important. I want things/experiences that money can get too. I just don't believe it should be the sole, principal motivation of an adult human. A while ago, there were some comments or debates about "Olodo...

Hi Reader! Better late than never so here goes this week's piece that should've arrive yesterday.🙈 I remember receiving several teachings on "Time Management" in church conferences over the years. It makes more sense now why it was such a recurring topic. Time (at least on earth) is a limited currency and nothing makes this more obvious than navigating adulthood. If there's one thing becoming an adult does, it shows you how precious your 'limited' time is because it never seems to be enough...

Hi Reader! Have you ever felt guilty about something you did or didn’t do? I know I have. It's normal to feel guilty when you violate your own standards or convictions. But when it lingers for weeks, days, and months, I liken it to the emotional equivalent of being stuck in a confined space without fresh air. You feel down, ashamed, embarrassed. You wonder what people might think of you if only they knew. And for those who found you out, you wonder if they secretly judge you. (Well, they...
