Is Greatness For Everyone?

Hi Reader!

This is a repost by the way.🙈 Enjoy!

Ever witnessed a heated debate about the greatest people in a field? Whether it's football, basketball, Hollywood, Kdrama or a comparison of your local universities.

Of course, such an argument is to be expected when people pick favourites even among people, places, or things with great qualities.

The truth is, every competitor in a “who's the greatest” debate possesses excellent attributes worth admiring and discussing.

But, since only a very small percentage of us will attain national or global fame and influence, is that to say that greatness is beyond our reach and saved for a select few?

Thinking back to my primary and secondary school, when my teachers told us that we’re all great and the leaders of tomorrow, I wonder if they believed the statement to be true or just recited it to our hearing as part of their work.

Well, I looked up the word “great,” and this is what came up:

The definitions highlight excellence or an above average performance. It doesn't show a compulsory relationship with fame or global influence. Summarily, everyone has the potential for greatness.

Greatness means pushing beyond any boundaries or obstacles to achieve a goal and produce optimal results.

In an ideal world, everyone is great at something. Whether it's telling stories, polishing shoes, running a business, raising children, cooking, or farming, there's something we get so much joy and fulfilment from giving our absolute best.

We may be blessed with the opportunity to demonstrate our greatness to a large audience, but usually, such chances meet those who've already mastered their craft. Simply put, the audience doesn’t make a great person. It only brings them to light.

The number of people we encounter and impact during the course of our lives will vary for every one of us, but we all have the potential for greatness in something.

It's easy for us to recall our favourite celebrities, actors, and singers. But, we also have our favourite teachers, hair stylists, retail store owners, barbers, tailors, etc.

We admire their diligence and competence. To us, they stand out from other options, and we’ll gladly choose them over everyone else when we can.

Whether your audience, customers, or clients are ten, a hundred, or a million, is there something you want to be great at?

I hope you maximize your potential for greatness while doing things you love. Greatness is in you.

Alright, that'll be all for now, until next Friday.

Light & Increase,

Osose Christabel.

Hi Reader! We have all that we need to be 1% better today, and repeat tomorrow. We just dislike the idea of starting small, asking for help, looking scrappy and enduring the hard things. We want the posh appearance, the expensive gear, the mainstream mentors, the huge capital.. So when someone asks you why you haven't started yet. You have a lot to say. “I don't have money. I don't have a good camera. I can't afford the course. I'm not this, I'm not that..” We love pointing to all that we...

Hi Reader! Last week, I talked about expressing love and gratitude, but let's keep it a hundred, these aren't the only feelings or expressions we manage in our relationships. The closer you are to someone, the more their words and actions could hurt you because you believe they should know and do better. So how do you express hurt, anger, or disappointment without escalating the situation? Take it from someone who's been on both ends, escalating and de-escalating issues, depending on my word...

Hi Reader! Sometimes, it's hard to express how we feel to the people we hold dear. Especially when the words feel emotional, sensitive, or too mushy and cringeworthy. Your culture, environment, and upbringing will also determine your cringe and awkward metre. However, we want the people in our lives to know how much their presence, support, and consistency mean to us. Like some people, I also struggle with expressing my admiration, love, or gratitude. But I find it's easier when I localize my...
